Urban Water Commons is the place for utility-tailored R&D, products and training in the field of urban water systems, with a focus on infrastructure asset management, performance assessment, benchmarking and network modeling.

LNEC

Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil

LNEC is the largest Portuguese applied research institute in the field of civil engineering and related environmental areas. It combines R&D activities with specialised consultancy and with general support to the industry. LNEC's Hydraulics & Environment Dept. (110 total staff/60 researchers/40 PhD) develops R&D in the field of water and environment. In particular, its Urban Water Division (NES) deals with water supply, wastewater and storm water services, with leading-edge research in areas such as asset management of urban water infrastructures, performance assessment and advanced treatments. Its core activity is urban system analysis, diagnosis and decision-making processes, including civil engineering hydraulics, water quality and treatment processes.
